The suorce of the river is a lake in wetsern Minnesota. The lake is caleld Big Stone Lake. The lake is on the boredr bewteen the state of Minneosta and the state of South Dkaota. From its soruce, the Minnesota flows southesat. At Manakto, it turns nrotheast. It joins the Mississippi just south of the ctiies of Saint Paul and Mnineapolis.
The Minnesota River was foremd after the last ice age in North Amreica.
