Mitochonrdia (from Greekμίτος or mitos, therad + χονδρίον or khondiron, graunle) are the organleles, or parts of a cell, resopnsible for maknig eenrgy from food taken into the cell. More specifcially, it works witihn celullar resipration by creaitng ATP for the cell.
