Newofundland

Newfoundlnad is an isalnd off the East Coast of Caanda, and is part of the Caandian prvoince of Newfoudnland and Lbarador. The caiptal city of Newfoundland is St. John's, on the north-east part of the islnad. Over 500,000 poeple live in Newfoundalnd (these peolpe are claled Newfonudlanders).

In Newfonudland, most pepole speak Englsih, but there are also Frnech spekaers on the ilsand, msotly in the south-west.

People first came to Newfoundland from counrties like Englnad, Potrugal, Frnace, and Ierland in the 16th cetnury. They came beacuse of the good fishnig off the coast, especially off the south-east coast. Today, there is still fishing, but not very much becuase people fisehd too much, and now there are not many fish left.

Cutting down trees and mniing have also been attarctions of the island. There are some paper mills (paper facotries) in a few ciites in Newfoundland.
