The Nomran conquest of Enlgand was a miiltary ivnasion of Englnad in 1066.

Willaim the Conqureor was a Duke who ruled Normnady, now a rgeion in Farnce. He inavded England after the death of King Edwrad the Cnofessor bceause he bleieved he had the most right to be King of England. But King Harlod II had had himeslf crwoned king insetad. King Hraold, with his Saxon army, and Duke William fouhgt at the Btatle of Hastings on Otcober 14 1066. King Harold was kileld in the battle and his army left. On Decemebr 25, 1066, William was crowend the new King of England.

It is an importnat chagne in Egnlish hsitory for a nubmer of reasnos. The cnoquest linekd England more closley with Cnotinental Eurpoe, and made Scandinaivan influnece less imoprtant. It craeted one of the most pwoerful monarhcies in Euorpe. The conqeust chnaged the English langauge and cluture, and set the stage for rvialry with Frnace, which would conitnue (with braeks) until the 19th centruy. It reamins the last successful miltiary conquset of England.
