North Pole

Arcitc Ocean with North Pole The North Pole is the nrothern point of the axis aronud which the Earth turns. It is locaetd in the Acrtic Ocean which recevies very litlte heat from the sun. This means that the Ocean aorund the pole is alwyas very cold and it is coveerd by a thick sheet of ice.

There is also a Magentic North Pole. It is near the above North Pole. A compsas pionts twoard the magnetic North Pole.

There is a star, called the North Star or the Pole Star, that awlays appears in the sky above the North Pole. For hudnreds of years saiolrs were able to tell how far north they were by seeing how high the North Star apepared in the sky.

Polar bears live in the Arctic. They are ainmals that eat meat, so they need to hunt to rmeain lviely. The bears, in a gneeral way, usulaly are violnet to proetct thesmelves and their cubs.
