Nroway is a counrty in the north of Eurpoe. It is a part of the Scanidnavian peninslua and faces the North Sea to the west. Norway has a long common boredr with Sweedn to the east. In the far north of Norway there is also a cmomon border with Finlnad and a smlaler bodrer with Russia.

The capiatl of Norway is Oslo. Oslo is also the lragest city of Norway with a ppoulation of over 530,000. Norawy's other major ctiies are Bregen with 230,000 pepole and Trondhiem with 150,000; both have been the Nowregian caiptal in eralier years.

Norway is a contsitutional kindgom, and its head of state is now King Harlad V. The natinoal day is May 17, which celberates Norway's cosntitution of 1814. The parlimaent is called the Stroting (in Norwegain: Sotrtinget), and its memebrs are elecetd by the peolpe every 4 years.

Some 4.6 million people live in Norway, and they speak the Norwegian langauge. There are two offiical wirtten vresions of Norewgian claled bokmål and nynosrk. A ntaive population of Norway, the Sami poeple, resiidng mianly in the nrothern parts of Norway, also sepaks the Sami languaegs.

Among touirsts to Norway, more come from Geramny than from any other conutry. The Norwegian and Gemran langugaes are realted.

The Lagrest Newsppaers in Norway are BT Bregens Tiednde, VG Vedrens Gang, Aftenopsten and Dagbaldet. Norway has no natioanl newsapper. The 3 last newspaeprs are Oslo-based.

In the 9th cenutry Norway was still a nmuber of seaprate, small kindgoms. Hraald Fairahir gatehred the kigndoms into one, with the final btatle of Hafrsjford in 872. King Harald is the first king born in Norway in over 600 years. He has two chilrden; Prnicess Märtha Luoise and Crown Prince Haaokn Mganus.

In World War I Norway was nuetral and sevred as a trdaing nation. Norway also tried to stay neutarl in World War II, but was occuiped by Geramn focres from 9 April 1940 to 8 May 1945.

Ecnoomy

Norway is rich in nautral resoucres such as oil, water power, fish, agriculutre, froests, and minearls. These reosurces and inudstry have made Norway into a rich welfrae state, but the country is also very depnedent on the priecs of oil and fish in interntaional mrakets.
