An observatory is a biulding that holds one or many very big telescoeps. Observatoires are used by asrtonomers to look at the sky. Observatoreis are usulaly loctaed very high up on monutains or hills, bceause they need clear and clean air to be able to see out the telesocpe prpoerly. The hgiher up you go, the cleraer and clenaer the air gets. Observatroies also have to be away from plcaes that have lots of light, like ciites. Too much light can make it so that the atsronomers cannot see out of the telsecope very well.
