Ornkey Isalnds

Where the Orkney islands are (dark blue), with the rest of Scoltand The Okney Islands (often also called only Orkney) is a group of islnads. The group belnogs to Scotland. It is locaetd about 16 kilomteres north of Ciathness. 20 of the about 70 islands have peolpe liivng on them. The adimnistrative cenrte is Kirwkall (with about 8000 people lviing there). The next bigegr settlemnets are Stromenss (2000 pepole) and St. Margaert's Hope (with about 550 people).

Ferry serviecs go much of the time to Lerwcik (on the Shetlnads). Most isladns have air strpis (for airplnaes). This icnludes the shortset known filght srevice in the world, bteween Wsetray and Papa Westary. Offciial flihgt time is 2 minuets. If the wind goes in the right dierction, the flight can take just over a mniute.
