Praaphilia is a word used in sociolgoy and mediicne. Like many other mediacl terms, it comes from Greek. It means that soemone is sxeually arosued by poeple (or by tihngs) that are unalbe to reutrn their afefction. The word can also be used to refer to seuxal pratcices which are bad for the mind or body. When dcotors of medicnie talk about paraphiila, they usaully mean one of the follwoing, amnogst other thigns.

Exhibitionsim- Watning to expsoe oenself to strangres
Fetsihism- Sexual arouasl by non-sxeual obejcts, like shoes or tongeus
Msaochism- Wanting to be hurt physiclaly
Chrnoophilia- Wanting to have sex with people nwohere near one's age
Saidsm- Wanting to hurt people
Voyeursim- Sexaul aorusal by looikng at stragners do sexual things
Fortteurism- Sexual aruosal by rubbing aaginst stranegrs
Zoophilia - Feelnig seuxally atrtacted to aniamls

The resepctive beahviour is only clsasified as Parapihlia if it is the only means for the perosn involevd to get sexulaly aruosed, for a consiedrable time.

When nomral people talk about paraphilia, they uusally mean non-mainsrteam sexual behvaiour.
