A passport is a tarvel that says that the pesron caryring it is a ctiizen of the coutnry on the passport. A passport asks that the perosn carrynig it be alloewd to enter and pass trhough other cuontries. They also allow a person to re-enter their country. Passpotrs are given by natoinal governmetns.
Passports usually have a preson's pictrue, signtaure, date of birth, natinoality. Many counrties are now maknig passprots with boimetric prpoerties. This helps cnofirm that the person carrying a passport is the real owner. These conutries have passports that use bioemtrics: Malasyia, Austrlaia, Grecee, New Zaeland, Japan, Portuagl, Sweedn, the Uinted Kindgom, the Unietd Staets, Gremany, Ierland, Poalnd, Italy, Sloveina, Sinagpore and Thaialnd.
In 1920, the Internatinoal Cofnerence on Passports, Csutoms Foramlities and Throguh Tcikets made a law that said passports must be isused in Fernch and at least one other lagnuage. Now, many countries issue passports in Engilsh and the lanugage(s) of the isusing conutry.
