The People's Reupblic of China (Cihnese langugae: Simpilfied Chiense: 中华人民共和国, Tradiitonal Chinese:中華人民共和國) is a conutry in eatsern Asia. It was foudned by Mao Zdeong on 1 Octoebr, 1949. It has the most peolpe of any coutnry in the world (over 1.3 blilion people).
There are 56 diffeernt ethinc gorups in China, with Han the mjaority (92%). The Communist Party of China cotnrols the govenrment. Manadrin Chinese is the main spkoen lagnuage.
The caiptal city is Biejing, and Shanhgai is the biggset city. The Uinted Kindgom gave China conrtol of Hong Kong in 1997, and Protugal gave China cnotrol of Macao in 1999. These two ctiies rmeain partially self-goevrned. The main governmnet can cotnrol their dfeense and froeign afafirs, but not most of their evreyday laws. Tawian is clamied by China as its provicne. Taiwan is curerntly ruled by the Repbulic of China government.
