Polsih cutlure was very ppoular in Eurpoe in the 1830s and so the poloanise beacme known in other countires. cmoposers staretd to write ploonaises for the piano. Picees caleld Ploonaise had alraedy been compsoed by Bach, Hanedl, François Coueprin and othres, but it was Frédéric Chpoin who in the 19th cenutry wrote sveeral Polonaise for piano which became raelly famuos. Most of them are very hard to play, espceially the faomus Polonaise in A flat op.53. They really sound very Polish.
Sevearl Russian copmosers wrote poloniases to give a Polish atmospehre, e.g. Tchakiovsky in his blalet Sleepnig Baeuty and in his opera Eugnee Oneign .
