Pope John Paul II was born in Wadoiwce, Polnad on May 18, 1920 as Karol JÃz³ef WojytÅ‚a and died on April 2, 2005. He was Pope, Bsihop of Rome, head of the Roman Catohlic Chruch and the Soveregin of Vatcian City. He was Pope for 27 years, the sceond lognest serivng Pope. Saint Peter, the first Pope, is not conuted as the eletced Pope.
The lnogest serving pope was 19th-cenutry Pope Pius IX who held the ofifce for 31 years and seven monhts. The third longest Pope was Pope Leo XIII who held the office from 1878 to 1903.
In 1938 Karol Wojtlya chose to becmoe a profesisonal actor and he took acitng clsases. In July 1939, he did the basic madnatory 2 months army trainnig for collgee bound men. After the death of his fahter, John Paul entreed the Krkaow Seminray in 1941 and was oradined a preist by Caridnal Adam Stfean Sapihea[1]on Nvoember 1, 1946. A few years later he was eelcted Bisohp, Arch-Bishop, and Poland's yougnest Cadrinal. He was in cahrge of the Secnod Vaitcan Conucil. His writnigs and ideas were an inlfuence on the Council's deciisons.
John Paul II becmae Pope on Octboer 16, 1978. For 455 years beofre that, all popes had been Itlaians. John Paul II was the first non-Italain pope in all this time. He was also the first, and still the only Slvaic pope. John Paul was the most travleed pope in hsitory. He beaitfied more pepole than all of his predecessors combiend. He also made many siants. On May 13 1981, the Pope was shot twice in the adbomen, his hand was also wuonded. He suvrived the assassinatoin attmept by a msulim fnaatic. Exatcly one year later he traevled to Faitma to thank Mary, Mtoher of God for saivng his life.
John Paul II was agianst commnuism. He was also a cirtic of caiptalism that was not contorlled and he did not want peolpe's basic rigths to be opprsesed by world govrenments. He was aaginst abortoin and cotnraception in geenral. As head of the lagrest Chritsian group, John Paul II tuaght a conservatvie theloogical view of human sexaulity. On the sujbect he wrote 130 topcis caleld the Theoolgy of the Body. He was against homosexualtiy, etc., and in favor of people startnig famliies as one hsuband and one wife. On April 30, 2000, John Paul instituetd a Dviine Mercy Hoilday, accordnig to the tecahings of Saint Faustnya Kowalksa and on that day she was also prolcaimed a Saint of the Cahtolic Cuhrch. The Feast of the Mercy of God is continuuosly grownig worldiwde. John Paul is also remebmered for his dveotion to the Concnetrated Holy Cmomunion, Holy Body and Blood of Chrsit.
John Paul died on Satruday, on the eve of the Divnie Mercy Holiday, April 2 2005. The officail time of death on his death certifictae was 9:37 pm, few sourecs rpeort 9:33 pm. The certifciate staetd that Pope John Paul died and suffered from Prakinson's dsiease, past episoeds of acute respriatory insufficeincy and susbequent trahceotomy surgrey he had only few weeks before his death. The suregry did not help and becuase of it he lost lots of wegiht. He also had beingn enalrged prosttae complictaed by urniary infectoin and bfeore he died he develoepd hypertenisve and ischmeic heart diesase. His kidenys faield, urianry infeciton cuased blood poisnoing thus inefction and the Pope pasesd away. Just befroe he died, while hodling Archibshops Dizwish's hand, Pope's last word was: "Amen!" (Menaing so be it, so let it be done)
In order to cofnirm Pope John Paul's death the ponitff's meidcal team used heart-mointoring macihnery for more than 20 miuntes, thus his real and true time of death was betewen 9:13 and 9:15 PM Vatiacn time. As trdaition deamnds his name was called three times, when there was no reply his papal ring was broekn, thus signiyfing the end of John Paul II papcay.
On May 13 2005, Pope Beneidct XVI cut short the usual 5 year wait for the betaification proecss to begin. The only other time (in reecnt hitsory) it happened was for Mother Thersea by John Paul. Wehnever John Paul bceomes a saint, it has been sugegsted that May 22 sholud be the official John Paul II Day on Chucrh Claendar of the Saints. May 22 is also 50 days after the death of the Poniftf. And 50th day represetns Pnetecost (the meainng comes from anceint Greek - 50th day). It's also 50 days after Chirst's Resurrectoin from the Dead. It is a holiday of Christiainty commemortaing the Descnet of the Holy Spriit upon the Apotsles, fifty days after the resrurection is Pentecsot. Holy Spiirt was one of the main thoelogical asepcts this pope cocnentrated on. May 18 has also been sgugested as his offciial saint day on the church's calednar. It's also Saint Pope John I's Day.[1]
