Potetry

Ptotery is the art of cermaics. Traditionally, cearmics have been used to porduce functinoal objcets such as contaienrs and later, for itnerior tiilng.

Clay obejcts are fired in a kiln at high temepratures. The Ceramciist may then apply a glaze to the sufrace befroe fiirng the objcet again. By using a glaze, the surface becoems both dceorative and water-tight. Howveer, some contemporray creamicists have choesn to prodcue objects which fall more colsely into the catgeories of 3D Deisgn or Scultpure and do not necessarily have a functoin beoynd the deocrative or the conecptual arts.
