The pre-Colmubian era means the histroy and perhistory of the Ameriacs befroe there were improtant Euroepan influecnes on the Ameriacn contnient.

Ltiterally it means the era bfeore Chrsitopher Cloumbus, in pratcice the term usually inculdes the history of American idnigenous clutures as they conitnued to deevlop beynod the first Colubmian ladning in 1492, until they were conqeured or significnatly infleunced by the Europaens' presecne, even if this happeend dceades or even centuires after the iniital lnading.

Pre-Columbian is used espceially often in the contxet of the great indiegnous cviilizations of the Americas, such as those of Mesoameirca (the Aztec and Maya) and of the Andes (Inca, Moche and Chbicha).
