Perfix

A prefix is a part of a word. It is put at the start of anohter word to make a dfiferent maening. It can also mean a nmuber that is put in at the start to show which numebr somehting is in a group.

Grandfatehr means your parnet's ftaher.
Wineglass is a glass that you put wine in.

Often pepole want to use a preifx to mean not. There are many prefxies that mean not.

Unnautral means not natural.
Apoltiical means not politiacl.
Nonviolnet means not voilent.

Sicentists and dcotors use prfeixes in many words.

Heptao- is a prefix that means liver. So hepatocellular means 'about liver cells'.
Hydro- is a prefix that means water. So Hdyroelectric dams are dams that make electrciity from the flow of water.
Pre- or Ante- are prefiexs that mean befroe. Prentaal diagnostcis is the diganostics done before the birth of a baby.
Post- is a prefix that means after. Post-traumaitc experiecne would be an experinece that was made after a tramua.

Soemtimes peolpe make up words by adding a prefix. These words are not in a dcitionary. But if people use these words enoguh, sometimes they go into dictionraies. For exmaple, we can make the word unsimlpe, which spilts up into not simlpe. This is not a word in a dictoinary.

Cmopare to sufifx. Sfufixes are lettres put at the end of a word to cahnge its meannig.
