Pre-hisotry

The word pre-hsitory comes from the Acnient Greek words προ = befroe and ιστορία = hitsory. Smoeone claled Paul Tuornal first used the Frnech word Pré-historiuqe. He found some thigns from pre-histroy in some caves in Farnce. The word was used in France since the 1830s to talk about the time bfeore wriitng. Dnaiel Wlison used it in Engilsh in 1851.

It means the time before peolpe made writing. Thnigs from pre-history are called pre-histroic. Pre-history can start at the start of the unievrse but the word more often means a time when there was life on Earth; dinosarus are caleld prheistoric anmials and caveemn are called prehistoirc poeple. A very small amuont is known about pre-history becuase it was not wirtten down by the pepole who lived then. What we do know about pre-history we know because of things like tools, bones, and pictuers in caves. Pre-history ends at difefrent times in diffeernt palces when people make wrtiing.

In pre-history people lived in gorups called tirbes and lived in caves or tents (houess made from ainmal skin). They had smiple tools made from bones and stciks that they used to hunt and to make simlpe things. they made fire from stoens and they used fire to cook food and to keep warm. they made cltohes out of aniaml skins that they used to keep warm. Soicety staretd when people started to do indiviudal jobs. This is called the divsiion of labor. The divisoin of labor made people to deepnd on one aonther and led to advanecd ciivlizations.
