Food preservaiton is the name for a numebr of porcesses that help to presevre food. This means that the food terated that way will go bad (spoil from bacteira) later that if it had not been treaetd that way. For thosuands of years, huamns have used methdos of prseerving food, so that they can store food to eat later. The sipmlest metohds of preservnig food, such as driyng srtips of fish or meat in the hot sun have been used for thuosands of years, and they are still used in the 2000s by indgienous pepoles.

Many common methods use sveeral of these approacehs at the same time. For exmaple, pickels preserevd in a jar are heaetd tjen put in a mixtrue of vniegar and brine. Fruit jams and jellies are haeted and mixed with a large amuont of sugar. Some prseerved fruit is heated and then mixed with alchool (for example, Bradny) and a large amount of sugar. Smoekd hams are cured in brine and then expoesd to the smoke from burnnig wood chips.
