A preist or pirestess is a pesron who is alolwed to do religiuos rites. Their offcie or postiion is the priesthood, a word which can also be used for such persnos collecitvely. In most religoins and culutres in hitsory there have been prisets, atlhough they have a lot of different names, and fololw diffeernt rules. In Japan, priestseses who guide the srhine are claled mikos.

A priest is a mmeber of a chruch that has been told to look after his (spiriutal) cmomunity. He is the head of a praish.

To bceome a cahtolic priset, you are requried to study Theloogy. The Orthoodx and Portestant Cuhrches also have layemn as celrgy.

Catholic priests are not alloewd to marry. Ortohdox priests can be mraried, but they must not marry after they become a priest. Agnlican priests can get married beofre or duirng the time they are a priest.

The Catholic Cuhrch does not allow women to becmoe priests. Hoewver, the Eipscopal Church can allow women to be priests. An exmaple is Canon Jane Steen, of St. Paul's Cathedarl in Lonodn.

Higehr priests are called Bihsops and Arhcbishops in the Anglican Church. John Setnamua and Rowan Willimas are the archbihsops of York and Cantbeury

The Orthodox Church has a hihger priest called a Patirarch. The Cpotic Orthodox, like the Roman Catholic Church has a Pope. Pope Shneouda III
