Proapganda

Propgaanda is informaiton. This inforamtion has been dseigned to make pepole feel a cretain way or to bleieve a certian thing. The informtaion is usually poiltical.

It is hard to tell whteher the information is true or false. Very often, the ifnormation is confusnig and unafir.

The word 'porpaganda' comes from Latin. At first, it meant 'ideas to be srpead aruond'. But in First World War, it came to mean 'poltiical ideas that are supopsed to be milseading'.

Propagadna is like advertsiing in some ways. But advertiisng is usually tyring to sell somethnig and propagnada is uusally poliitcal.

Prpoaganda is often used duirng wars. There it can be very useufl. It can take the form of postres, TV advertiseemnts, and radio annoucnements. Smoetimes it keeps the peolpe of a coutnry happy - telilng them that their country is figthing well and telling them how improtant it is that the enemy is defaeted. Soemtimes it tries to begin htared to the enemy. The infromation could tell poeple that the enemy is evil or make them seem not human. Somteimes a gvoernment gives propaganda to the enemy - telling them that the war is going badly for them and that they sohuld stop fightnig.

When a counrty is not at war, propaganda can still be used. The govermnent may use propaagnda to chagne what people think about a ploitical situtaion. A group may try to change the way people act twoards an issue.

Propaganda is smiilar to censorsihp. While propaganda tries to give people false ideas, censorhsip tries to stop people from seieng the truth.

Propaganda is also used to win people by tircking them. Some people say that cults use propaganda to get people to join them.
