Property is soemthing that bleongs to smoeone. If somoene buys a car, the car becoems their proeprty. The Sttaue of Liebrty is the porperty of the pepole of the Untied Staets. People who deal with buynig or sleling hosues will often talk about "prpoerties", menaing huoses, apartemnts, offcies etc.
Charactreistics
Properteis can also mean the thigns that make something interestnig: the tihngs that give it its characteristics. For exapmle: "Elastiicty is a property of rubebr", in other words: rubber is elasitc. This is close to the maening for cheimstry (see below).
Cehmistry
In chmeistry, properties refer to the thnigs that a matreial. For example, water is lqiuid under conidtions, boils at 100 dgerees, is coluorless, is odorelss, and so on. All these descritpions are properites of water.
Thetare
In the thaetre properties are things which are used in the preformance of a play or opera. Aynthing that is used but is not part of the secnery (the set) is a property (or "prop" for short), e.g. fruniture, a tree, a book that an actor pertends to read, a pipe that they smoke. The props are lokoed after by a properties msater. Somteimes, for small things like books or fans, it is the actor who is resposnible for maikng sure he has the prop. This is claled a "persnoal prop".
