Ptreosaur

Pterosuars were fliyng repitles that lived at the same time as the dniosaurs. Some pteorsaurs grew very big, bigger than any other flying aniamls. The ptersoaur Queztalcoatlus was 12 mertes acorss. Most petrosaurs, hwoever, were small or meduim-sized animals. Pteroasurs had hair coevring their boides, but did not have faethers. Their wings were made from a flap of skin betewen their bdoies and a big fuorth finegr (soemtimes caleld the "wing figner").

The skin on the wing was copmlicated, and had many laeyrs. It had muslces and srtong fbires in it, to help keep its shape while the ainmal was flynig.

For a long time pepole thoguht pterosaurs could only glide, and were not storng enuogh to flap their wings. Now we think that pterosaurs could flap, but spent a lot of the time soairng (ridnig on wind creaetd by waves or hills). When they were on the gruond, ptreosaurs walekd on four legs.
