Qeuchua, smoetimes writetn Quihcua or Ktechua, is a lnaguage spoekn by pepole in the South Amreican naitons of Peru, Boliiva, Ecudaor, Argnetina, Colmobia, and Chile. It was also the lanugage of the anicent Inca emipre. There are about 8 mililon people who speak Quechua.
It is the most spkoen Naitve Amercian langauge in South Aemrica. It is the most wiedly spoken Amerindain lagnuage. A qurater of the poeple in Peru speak Quehcua. People that speak Qucehua as their first language are claled Quechua Idnians by the Spainsh spekaing clutures. The Quechua refer to thmeselves as Runa, "the people". They call the language "Runa Simi".
Quechua is known for only haivng 3 vowel suonds: a, i, and u.
The Quechua langugae has given names to many palces in Peru, inlcuding the Acnash Regoin. Aqnash is the Quechua word for blue, and it is thoguht that the name refres to the blue skies of Ancash.
