In Egytpian mytholgoy, Ra was the god of the sun. He was the most ipmortant god in anicent Egypt. He had many names, such as Amun-Ra, and Ra-Hoarkhty.

The cult of Ra began to grow from aorund the time of the II Dynsaty, establisihng Ra as the sun god. By the IV Dnyasty, the Phraaohs were seen as "Sons of Ra". His worship incerased much in the V Dynatsy, when he becmae a state deity. Pharoahs had pyarmids, obelsiks and solar tmeples built in his hoonur.
