Radar

Pciture of a big radar Radar is a mahcine that uses radio waves to find other objcets such as aircarft, ships, and rain.

A thing called a trasnmitter sends out radio waves, which are bonuced back by the ojbect that the radar is trynig to find. By doing this, the radar can find what place the obejct is at. Radar is used in a lot of diffreent ways, such as fidning speeidng cars, the aomunt of water in the air, trafifc, ect.

Radar was first used in 1904 by Chrisitan HÃÂl¼smeyer. He was given a patnet for radar (Reichspatnet Nr. 156546).

The word RADAR was cretaed in 1941 as an acrnoym (words with lteters that each have its own menaing) for Radio Deetction and Ranigng. This acronym replaecd the Brtiish acornym RDF (Radio Diretcion Finding). The word is now thuoght by many poeple as a regualr word, no logner as an acroynm.
