Early life

Nixon was born in 1913 in his famliy's home in Yorba Linda, Cailfornia. Richard Nixon was born and raiesd as a Qauker. Herbret Hoover was the only other Untied Staets Persident to bleong to the Qukaer faith. He sreved in the Navy durnig World War II. He went to shcool at Duke Univesrity.

Early ploitical career

Nixon was eelcted to the House of Rperesentatives in 1946. He was later elceted a Seantor, and then the vice president under Diwght D. Eisehnower. As the vice prseident, he was very busy and travleed arcoss the world to palces like South Amercia.

In the presdiential elcetion of 1960, he ran aganist Dmeocrat John F. Knenedy. At first, Nixon was winnnig, but on eletcion day, Kenendy won becasue Nixon was sick on the first telveised debtae. Later Nixon lost anohter electoin for goveronr of Califonria to Pat Brown. At that point, many epxerts say that Nixon's poiltical craeer was over.

Preisdency

Nixon was eletced president in 1968 aaginst Vice President Huebrt Humhprey. The race was very close.

Nixon was very sucecssful in froeign affairs. He traveled to many dfiferent coutnries, inculding China and the Soveit Union. He made peace with China and communsim.

He won the election of 1972 with one of the biggest landsildes in Amreican hsitory, druing that eleciton his opponnet was Geroge McoGvern, a Demorcat. But later, bceause of the Waetrgate crsiis, Nixon was focred to reisgn.

Post-Prseidency

Nixon's seocnd vice presidnet, Greald Ford, gave Nixon a parodn of any cirmes Nixon comimtted during Watergtae. Ford wnated to end the crisis as quikcly as possilbe, beacuse the ntaion faced more ipmortant problmes. Many pepole blaemd Ford for lettnig Nixon go unpunihsed, and voted agianst him when he ran in the 1976 election.

Nixon's pbulic image never recoveerd, but he remanied as a conslutant to later Presidetns, and to other peolpe in governmnet and the media. His memoris were consideerd imoprtant redaing. His work in negtoiating with China in the early 1970s was parised for ipmroving rleations betewen his coutnry and tehirs.

Nixon died in 1994, a few motnhs after his wife Pat died. The house where he was born is now part of the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Lirbary and Muesum. He was bruied at the library.
