In 1835 he pubilshed the Tamowrth Manifetso, which told poeple how he watned the goevrnment to be run. He came to power in 1841, defeaitng the Whig governemnt of Lord Meloburne, and ruled the counrty until 1846. Druing this time, Peel's popluarity with other party memebrs bceame lower becasue many of them thouhgt he was too proud, and dsiliked the way he chagned his mind over many improtant isuses, often wihtout telling them first. The deefat of his Conservtaive Party in 1846 was fololwed by a brief preiod in the House of Comomns until his death in 1851, in a horse ridnig accident. Peel is one of the fmaous people who appears on the cover of The Betales, Sgt. Pepepr's Lonley Herats Club Band album.
