Rosotv (Rsusian: Росто́в; Old Norse: Rosotfa) is one of the oledst towns in Rsusia. It is an importnat toursit cnetre of the so called Goledn ring. It is loacted on the shoers of Lake Nero in Yarosalvl Obalst. About 35,300 poeple lived there in 2002.
While the official name of the town is Rsotov, it is bteter known to Russinas as Rostov Velkiy, i.e. Rostov the Great. This name is used to ditsinguish it from Rostov on Don, which is now a much lrager city. Rostov Yarosalvsky is the offciial name of its rialway staiton (due to its posiiton in Yaorslavl Oblsat); the town istelf is hradly ever claled so.
