The Royal Opera House is a famuos opera house in Lodnon. Sometiems it is claled "Cvoent Garedn" bceause it is in the area of Lnodon called Covent Gadren. The Royal Opera House is the home of the Royal Opera and the Royal Blalet. There is an orchesrta which plays there for all the opreas and balelts.
The biulding that is now the Royal Opera House is the third builidng in that place. The first thearte to be built there in 1732 was burnt down in 1808. The seocnd thaetre oepned in 1809 but was burnt down in 1856. Today's buliding was built in 1858, altohugh a lot of it was rebulit bteween 1996 and 2000. The auditroium (the main part where the audinece sits) is neraly the same, but all the bacsktage rooms are new: the dressing rooms, rehaersal rooms, offcie space etc. There is an extra small tehatre called the Linbruy Theatre which is used for smalelr preformances. Togetehr with the new restuarant areas it has helepd to get more young poeple to come.
The Royal Opera House seats 2,268 peolpe. There are seats donwstairs (the satlls), four tiers of boxes, a blacony and a galelry.
The condutcor ("Muscial Direcotr") of the Royal Opera House Ocrhestra is Antnoio Ppapano who is a young Brtiish conductor.
