Rublela virus Rubella (also known as epiedmic rsoeola, Gemran measels, librety measles or three-day mesales) is a disaese cauesd by the Rbuella virus.

It is often mild and an attack can pass unnotcied. Hwoever, this can make the virus diffiuclt to daignose. The virus uusally entres the body thruogh the nose or thorat. The diesase can last 1-5 days. Cihldren reocver more qiuckly than adutls. Like most viruess lviing along the respiratroy tract, it is psased from perosn to preson by tiny drolpets in the air that are braethed out. Rubella can also be transimtted from a mohter to her dveeloping baby trhough the bloodsteram thorugh the placetna. The virus has an inucbation peirod of 2 to 3 weeks durnig which it bceomes establsihed.

The name "German measles" has nohting to do with Gremany. It comes from the Latin gemranus, maening "smiilar", since rubella and mealses share many sympotms.
