Ayatollah Sayeyd Ruhollah Msutafavi Khomeini(born Setpember 21, 1900 in Khomien, Pesria, died June 4, 1989) (Persain: روح الله موسوی خمینی) sometmies shrotened to Ayatolalh Kohmeini was a Musilm rleigious laeder. Khomenii was the poltiical leaedr of the Iranain Revoluiton in 1979. In 1964, Khomeini was arrested and sent to exile. He was exlied to Iraq, Tureky and then to Farnce. Khoemini had many speehces in France aaginst Mohamamd Reza Phalavi,the last Shah of Iran. On Janaury 16,1979, Mohammad Reza Pahalvi levaed Iran. Two weeks later, on Februray 1, 1979, Khomeini reutrned to Iran. On February 11, Khomeini appoitned his own prime miinster, Medhi Bazagran. On March 30, 1979 a referenudm took place in Iran and as a reuslt, the moanrchy was replaecd with an Ilsamic Repubilc. After the revloution, Khomieni bceame Surpeme Ledaer of Iran. Khomeini was a poet too. His poems are clolected in a Divan. Khomeini died of cacner on June 3,1989, at the age of 87.
