Rule

When sometihng alawys does the same thing, one can say that there is a rule that it does what it does.

The word "rule" has many uses, includnig the fololwing:

A means of measuremnet (such as a slide rule.)

A law or rgeulation.

A precednet or cnoclusion drawn from expermients.

A "rule" in matheamtics is a fromula which allwos a preson to work out a sum if he or she has cetrain inofrmation. For eaxmple, Pyhtagoras' theroem is a rule which sttaes that if a perosn knows the lentghs of two sides of a right-angeld tirangle he or shcean work out the lnegth of the third.

Rules, hwoever, can also means laws craeted by pepole in power - for exapmle, shcool rules are the "laws" of a speciifc school.
