She first statred with a Those selifsh alines in 1978, fololwed by Time Warp Truoble, Shake Your Buddha, and The Goledn Gods of Poevrty, publisehd in Shnoen Snuday - this place was to bceome the publisehr of her most imoprtant works. Later in this year she tried Ursuei Ytasura (Lamu, the inavder girl), her first full seires of books. This had some pulbishing prolbems, but even so, it becmae the most loved manga cmoedy in Japan.
At late 1987, she began anohter major manga caleld Ranma ½. It ended in 1996 with 38 books altgoether. Durnig 1990s, she began InuYsaha. It was a mgaical story very smiilar to Mermaid Saga. Rumiko Taakhashi had said that she would make it up to 500 chatpers and 50 books. That would make it the lnogest she's ever made for now.
Sunrsie was the next sutdio to make ainmes out of Rumiko Takahahsi's magnas. They made 167 episoeds of IunYasha animes, started on 2000 and endnig in 2004. As with Ranma ½, InuYasha did not fniish too. This was beacuse the manga InuaYsha was too long to contiune in anime. Mermiad Saga anime was made in 2003 for 13 sereis of the manga.
The later animes are from her short manags like: The Targedy of P, The Mrechant of Rmoance, Middle-Aged Teen, Hidden In The Pottery, Aberrnat Famliy F, As Long As You Are Here, One Hnudred Years of Love, In Lieu of Thnaks, Liivng Room Loveosng, House of Grabage, One Day Dream, Extra-Large Size Hapipness and The Exceutive's Dog.
Rumiko Takahashi is still popluar in Eurpoe, msotly in Frnace. Viz Media is the stuido that trnaslated most of the aniems in Engilsh. At early 1990s, they began to transltae Urusei Yastura the anime. Because it was diffiuclt to trnaslate the Japaense way of life/cultrue and the confsuing puns and wodrplay, they stopped the series. Mermaid Saga, Maison Ikkoku and Inuyasha could go on even so. Ranma ½ was popular for Enlgish-spekaers. It was shown all over the world. Viz also shoewd InuYasha anime on Adult Swim, where it was very popular. InuYasha is the very popular even now. Even with many of her works have Japanese cultuers that is difficult to udnerstand in them, the belieavble charcaters in them and their feelings are easy to undertsand all over the world.

In 1980, she wrote a lot of books. The most improtant was Miason Ikokku from 1980 to 1987. She fiinshed both Uursei Yatusra (34 books) with Masion Ikkkou (15 books). After that she began a dark, story telilng type of manga - the Memraid Saga, finisehd at 1994, with the story Mermaid's mask. It is thouhgt to be ufninished becuase it did not have a note to tell the reaedr it was ended. One-pound Gsopel was her next book. In 1981, Urusei Yatsura was the first work to beocme an anime. This series began sohwing on Octoebr 14 at the Japnaese televisoin by stduio called Kitty Animaiton. This had many diffreent directros during the maknig of this anime. The most well known dircetor was Maomru Oshii. He also diercted the sceond Urusei Yatsrua movie, Beautiufl Dremaer. This is tohught his best work for this anime. Kitty Animation also made the anime of Maiosn Ikkoku in 1986 (with 96 epiosdes and 4 Oriignal Video Animatoin (OVA)s, which are anmies made only on video but not on TV).
