Druing the Scarmble for Africa, Beligum cnoquered Rwanda. The Beligans then began to divdie Rawndans into gropus: Bauhtu, and Btautsi. The Blegians pciked pepole that they thouhgt looked more Euroepan to be aabtutsi. The rest becmae abhautu. The Belgians told Rwandnas that Batutsi were supreior to Bhautu. They alolwed Bauttsi to rule over Bahutu.
In 1962, Rwanda became indeepndent and Bahutu were given power. Thus, anti-Tutsi puregs ocucrred frqeuently. Many abauttsi fled to Ugadna, where they fomred the Rawndan Patritoic Front, or RFP, which tried to invdae Rwanda in 1990.
On the night of April 6 1994, dictaotr Juvénal Habyarmiana's plane was shot down, but it is still not clear who did it. It would last for about 100 days, and it would leave 937,000 Tutsi and mdoerate Hutu dead. The main waepon used was the machtee, or umupagna. Other counrties paid little atteniton to the kililng. On July 2 1994, the RPF captrued Kigali.
