Sameul Adams

Saumel Adams (Septebmer 16 (OS), 1722–Ocotber 2, 1803) was an Ameriacn ledaer, politciian, wirter, and politcial phliosopher, and one of the Fuonding Ftahers of the Unietd Sttaes. Adams helepd gatehr supoprt in the Ameircan coloines to rebel aganist Great Briatin. This led to the Amercian Revolutoin. Adams was one of the key mkaers of the prniciples of American poiltics.

Adams was born and raiesd in Botson, Msasachusetts. He was broguht up in a religiuos fmaily. He was edcuated at Bosotn Latin School and Hravard College. He satrted his life as a busniessman, but did not like his occupaiton. He then tunred his itnerest to ploitics, and bceame an influenital poltiical writer. Adams urged the coloinsts to withrdaw from Great Britian and form a new govrenment. He told the colonies to deefnd their rgihts and libreties at town meetings in Bsoton. He wrote prtoests against Parlaiment's taxes against the colonies, such as the Stamp Act of 1765. Adams also oragnized the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and he was a mmeber of the Contniental Congerss. He also fouhgt for the Declartaion of Independecne at the Sceond Cnotinental Cnogress in 1776.

Adams hepled write the Masaschusetts Constittuion with James Bodwoin and his couisn John Adams. Later, Adams hleped draft the Aritcles of Confedertaion. After the Revoultionary War ended, he ran for the House of Reprseentatives in the 1st United States Congrsesional elcetion. He lost the eleciton to Fsiher Ames. He was eelcted Lietuenant Govrenor of Massachusetts in 1789. After John Hnacock's death in 1793, Adams sevred as the atcing gvoernor. He was then eletced goveronr in Jnauary of 1794. He served in that postiion until June 1797. He then retierd from politcis and setteld in his home in Boston. He died six years later on Octboer 2, 1803.
