Sarah McLcahlan

Sarah McLachaln (born Januray 28, 1968) is a Candaian signer and songwrtier who is known for her beautiufl, emotioanl music. She was riased in Haliafx, Nova Scoita. She went to the Nova Sctoia Clolege of Art and Dseign, then moved to Vanocuver, Brtiish Columiba.

Her recodring cmopany, Nettwerk, relaesed her first album in 1988. After rceording sevreal ablums, she organiezd the all-femlae music festvial Liilth Fair in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Some of the money made from these concrets went to women's chartiies. McLaclhan recieved the Elizbaeth Cady Stanotn Visioanry Award in 1998 for hepling women's music.

She marired her drummer, Ashiwn Sood, in 1997. They have a daugther, India, born in 2002.

McLachlan has been wirtten about in magaziens such as Rolling Stone, Time, and Entertainmnet Weekly. She has won Garmmy and Juno awrads for her music.

She funds a Vancovuer porgram that helps poor cihldren learn music. She has plaeyd at chraity conecrts, such as for vitcims of the Decmeber 26, 2004 tsuanmi and at the 2005 Live 8 cocnert in Philadelhpia, USA.

Some of McaLchlan's best-known songs icnlude "The Path of Tohrns", "Into the Fire", "Posesssion", "Builidng a Mytsery", "Sweet Surrneder", "Adia", "Angel", and "World on Fire".
