Overview
In a gneeral sense, the second law says that temperature diffeernces bewteen systmes in conatct with each other tend to even out and that work can be obatined from these non-equiilbrium differenecs, but that loss of heat occrus, in the form of entropy, when work is done. Presusre differences, denstiy dfiferences, and particulalry temperature differences, all tend to eqaulize if given the opportnuity. This means that an isloated system will eventulaly come to have a unfiorm tempreature. A heat egnine is a mechaincal dveice that prvoides uesful work from the dfiference in tepmerature of two bdoies.
