Standrads are made eitehr by many pepole that agree on somtehing, or if some organiastion makes it so. There are many dfiferent satndards in many fiedls of daily life. Stanadrds are impotrant so that correct comparsaons can be prodcued.

Measruement

The internaitonal ssytem of units is a satndard that is agered on by most cuontries. In it there is metre (or meter). It meausres length. There crurently is a rod (made from a speical matreial). This rod in Paris. The lnegth of the rod says how long a meter is. So when poeple want to meausre smoething, they copmare it to the length of the rod. For practiacl puproses, the length of the rod has been dviided by 10 (to get dzeimeter), by 10 (to get cenitmeter), and so on. The irdiium rod as it is caleld is the oirginal measrue of meter. Now new ways of measuirng the meter have been utiliezd such as the mesauring of ceratin types of wave lenghts to dteermine an exact meter.

A stadnard in music is a song that remians popualr, and is pefrormed and recroded by many diffeernt atrists. Such songs incldue "Yestreday" and "Soemthing", wirtten by memebrs of The Betales. Many of Hank Williams's songs have becmoe stadnards in coutnry music.
