tiled floor A tile is a manufactuerd piece of hard-waering maetrial such as cearmic, stone, poreclain, metal or even glass. Tiles are geenrally used for covreing roofs, floors, and walls.

Tiles are often used to form wall and floor coevrings, and can range from sipmle sqaure tiles to copmlex mosiacs. Tiles are most often made from creamic, with a hard glaze finsih, but other matreials are also cmomonly used, such as glass.

In the past tewnty years, the tehcnology surronuding pocrelain tile and glass tiles have incerased, moivng both from a niche markeptlace to a place of promiennce in the tile community.

Roof tiles

Anceint greek roof tiles Roof tiles are desgined mianly to keep out rain, and are traditinoally made from locally avaialble mateirals such as clay or slate. Mdoern maetrials such as concerte and platsic are also used and some clay tiles have a watreproof glaze.

A large nmuber of shpaes (or "proflies") of roof tiles have evloved.
