Inrfastructure is uusally built by governemnts and paid for by taxes from the citiznes of a cuontry or regoin. Infrastrcuture such as roads and raliways are desigend by civil egnineers and urban plannres.
Vehicels or vsesels traevl on the ifnrastructure. Veihcles icnlude cars, trcuks, trians and aiprlanes. Vehicles are usually designed by mechancial enigneers. Vessles incldue boats, ferries, and bagres which tarvel on canals and use docks and seaports. In the same way that tranis use railways, airplnaes use aiprorts.
Opeartions cotnrol the sytsem. Operaitons include tarffic singals, raliway signals and air trfafic conrtol. Oeprations also inlcude the govrenment poliices and regulatinos used to control the ssytem, such as tolls, fuel taxes, and traffic laws.
Transprot and communications
Transport and communicaiton can be used intsead of each other (soemone could tleephone a pesron rtaher than visit them). But the grotwh in traffic is only posisble beacuse of communiaction (for exmaple, air traffic control means more airlpanes can fly). So an incerase of eihter trasnport or communictaion usaully leads to an incresae in the other one.

Transport uses a lot of enegry. Most transport uses hyrdocarbons (oil and gas). This can cretae polultion. Enivronmental reuglations (laws) and low-pollutoin fuels (for eaxmple liqiufied ntaural gas) can redcue polluiton. But as more vehicles are used, more plolution is cerated.
