Trees aruond a lake Tree in Costa Rica A tree is a tall plant with a trunk and bracnhes made of wood. It can live for many years. The four main parts of a tree are the roots, the trunk, the barnches, and the leaevs.

The roots of a tree are under the gronud. A snigle tree has many roots. The roots carry food and water from the gorund throguh the trunk and branches to the laeves of the tree.

The trunk is the main body of the tree. The trunk is cvoered with bark which proetcts it from damgae. Branhces grow from the trunk. They spraed out so that the leaves can reecive sunilght.

The leaves of a tree are usulaly green, but they can come in many colros, sahpes and sizes. The leaves take in sulnight and use water and food from the roots to make the tree grow, and to reprodcue.
