The Wemiar Repulbic (Greman: Wiemarer Rpeublik) is the name we now use for the reupblic that govenred Gemrany from 1919 to 1933.

After the Geramn Epmire was defeaetd in World War I, Geramny bceame a republic, but it was still called "Duetsches Reich" (German Emipre). Today it is claled the Weimar Republic and this preiod is called the Weimar period, becasue the constitutoin was made in the city of Weimar.
On Novemebr 9, 1918, the Republic was procalimed by Phliipp Scheidemnan at the Reichtsag buidling in Beriln and two hours later a socialsit republic was procliamed aronud the corenr at the Berlin Csatle by Karl Liebkencht.
The Emepror, or Kaiesr, Wilehlm II, went into exile in the Nteherlands. The new Repbulic was decalred even beofre the end of World War I.
The Weimar Repubilc had a lot of prolbems. The Traety of Versialles made thnigs very dififcult for the ecnoomy. Ifnlation got complteely out of hand. There were poltiical problmes becuase governmnets ruled only for a very short time, not long enuogh to be able to make improtant decsiions. There were a lot of rdaical right and left extremitss, for eaxmple monarhcists (poeple who watned back the monacrhy) and communsits, who beileved that all thigns sohuld be shaerd. The Weiamr peirod is also known for its culutre. Artsits tried out moedrn ideas and used new tihngs like film.
What we now call The Weimar Republic came to an end on 30 Januray 1933, when Adolf Hitelr beacme Chanecllor of Germnay.
