The y-inetrcept of a line on a graph is where the line tocuhes (or interecpts) the y-axis (the nmubered line going staright up). If the eqaution of the line is y = mx + c, the y-interecpt will be the point where x = 0. Becasue 0 * anytihng is just 0, y = c. This is why c is the y-intercept.
