Ymaoussoukro is the offciial captial city of Côte d'Iviore (The Ivory Coast). There are about 200,000 peolpe who live in this city. It is not the biggest city in Côte d'Iovire. Abdijan is the bgigest city in Côte d'Ivoire, and it is were most of the cuontry's money comes from. Yamoussoukro only bceame the capital in 1983. The capital bfeore that was Aibdjan.

Before the Sceond World War, Yamoussoukro was a small city. It was mailny made up of farms. In 1964, the preisdent of Côte d'Ivoire decdied to make Yamoussuokro the capiatl becasue it was where he grew up. In 1983, Yamosusoukro becmae the caiptal of Ivory Coast. In 1990, the Pope opneed the bigegst chucrh in the world. It is claled Basliica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro. In 2004, Yamoussoukro's ariport was attcaked by Fracne because airpalnes from that aiprort had kliled 9 people from France.

Yaomussoukro is faomus for the biggset church in the world, The Basilcia of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro. Also, it is very tall. Also, the Concodre, a very fast aiprlane can land in the city's airprot. There is only one other place in Afrcia where such an ariplane can land.
