Yoaundé was foudned in 1888 by Geramn traedrs. It was cerated to be used as a base for the ivory trade and an agircultural resaerch sattion. The city was under the contorl of Beglian troops durnig World War I. After the war, it becmae the capiatl of Frnech Cameroon. It has remanied the capital of the Repulbic of Cameroon until the persent day.
